I entered one of my 12 year old grandson's paintings into the SAA Artist of the Year Competition and he heard today that he has won the Portrait & Figure Category in the Junior Section of the competition. His painting will be exhibited in London in July and will also be included in the SAA's Artist of the Year Desk Diary that they produce. I am absolutely thrilled for him and so very proud of him. He has loved drawing and painting since he was a tiny chap, so I hope that art becomes a large part of his life in the future and that this success will spur him on. His winning painting is on my gallery and is called Poseidon Rising From The Sea and was actually painted when he was 11 years old. He certainly beat his granny who only managed to get one painting into the final judging and then missed out!! However, Hector's success more than makes up for that.
