Hi Ruthy, Yes, I travelled the Highlands and Islands and a quick visit to Ireland, and back home, W-ton. For two years we lived in our motorhome, washing in streams and collecting fresh stream water to drink, had a wonderful time, came back wanting the comforts of a house again. While out and about, kept a good diary in my sketchbook, with comments and drawings for the whole length of time, I love to dip in it occasionally and remember a time and a place I visited.

Ruthy, a local gallery here has published one of their painter's sketchbook/diary; it is full of beautiful sketches and notes done on walks through the countryside and is a work of art in itself. Also, you may remember the Edith Holden's Edwardian diary published a few years ago, which your thread has just prompted me to open again. I have a ringbound watercolour pad with paintings I did on holidays over the last few years, it brings back the moments so vividly. A camera is ok as a back-up but I am sure the time spent on your visual diary will be a good investment, so please don't change just because it might appear to save time.

Glad you did and good for you too...go for it.

hiya phil.............though i'd give this blogging another go..................think i will invest in a camera......if i'm going to make the jump to painting........save on time

No my digital camera and the computer does this for me...as you may have spotted I'm awfully lazy when it comes to noting down the details for a painting...
