Team Day Out - we fed the giraffes!

Well we all thoroughly enjoyed our team day out last month. Escorted by our lovely ranger, Adam, we were driven across the plains of Lympne in Kent to experience a real life safari. No sooner had we set out than we had 4 beautiful young male giraffes walking in line ahead of us - cameras at the ready we listened as Adam told us fascinating facts about these amazing animals. And then one of them came up to the land rover and bent his head to look in at us! It was incredible - and to make things even more special Adam provided food for us to reach out and feed him by hand! Two hours of the most amazing experiences followed all accompanied by facts and figures from our knowledgeable ranger. We saw cheetahs, elephants, water buffalo, zebras, rhinos and more, many of them roaming free. Sally was very wary of the inquisitive ostrich who put his head into the vehicle! Our safari was followed by a delicious meal in the mansion house, the rooms of which are painted with beautiful murals capturing more species of animal and bird than you could name. We were then escorted to view the lions and tigers being fed, and then on to the gorilla enclosure where they were having an afternoon snack! The remainder of the day was ours to enjoy and we went everywhere and saw everything we could until the gates were about to close. We all returned to the office the next day buzzing with excitement and what we had seen and done, but nothing topped feeding the giraffes by hand! I will be adding some of our photographs to the copyright free pages soon; feel free to take a look and use them as inspiration for your paintings. Also look out for a new painting competition next month based on our safari day out!
