Hi I left school thinking that i couldnt draw or paint. This mistaken perception continuued into my 30's when ill health visited me. A friend gave me some watercolour pencils while i was in hospital to keep me occupied.Little did she realise the significance of that day! I joined an art class for beginners five years ago, filled with trepidation but luckily i found a fantastic tutor and my confidence soon grew. I realised that practice was the key along with belief in myself. So from then on i tried to do something every day, even if only for a few minutes. Art has continued to be my main interest and a distraction from my health problems. I have even sold a couple of paintings. My next step is to have the confidence to try to sell more of my work. So i thought that my introducing myself on the blog was a step in the right direction. Enjoying art has also become an unexpected interest for my husband as a result of my interest. We find it an enjoyable hobby to visit exhibitions and galleries. His preferences are often different from mine but it does instigate interesting discussions! I look forward to adding my work onto the gallery site.

Thanks for the reminder, I hope to come Saturday. I realised rather late on that Warwickshire Arts Week has been on since 5 July, ending Sunday (a long week!). There are a large number of artists' studios open to visit, as well as gallery exhibitions in the main centres. I have managed to visit a few and it has been really enjoyable talking to the artists in their studios. Details are on the WAW website. I have been really impressed by the number of very talented and enthusiastic artists in the county, and quite envious of their spacious workspaces. Thanks to all who participated, everyone has obviously gone to a lot of effort to tidy up for visitors and give up their time; to those I haven't managed to get to, my apologies, and hope to see you in two years. Perhaps the organisers could publicise the event more prominently next time.
