Ricks tips and waffles

We never stop learning

Hi fellow arty types I have decided to start this blog to offer a few tips and ideas I have gained over the last 30 yrs or so both as an artist and photographer. In many cases no doubt I will be teaching you to suck eggs, but I hope some of my ramblings may prove of use. Many of us get stuck in the comfort zone and shy away from trying new ideas and materials. I certainly did, but over the past few years I have been experimenting with different styles, media and supports. It has really been great fun and a huge learning curve, and lets be honest none of us ever stop learning. If I just give one or two of you the kick you need to change direction or revitalise your art then I shall feel I've succeeded.

Hi Judith glad you got onto the Forum I am on here all the time at the moment the heat is sapping my energy so the paints can wait...I must admit the Forum is great so much info...have you got your new camera yet?

Hi Judith well difficulties we are experiencing what with the Forum being down...I've only managed to get it right...I lost my gallery disappeared into the ether so last week I put it all back on and put it into portfolios...I don't have much work so I posted what is left of my old 1980's stuff under Old my latest stuff under New but I have a couple of Chinese Brushwork pieces in there a Tiger my first and a Lion my second I would like to move them into the portfolio with my Bird with Wisteria but I'm not game so leave well alone...My work seems to come under Patsy King although I first listed it under Patsy's Offerings...I get onto the portfolios at the bottom of the page where it says Browse All Portfolios and they are in alphabetical order...that for me is easier I found it difficult to find peoples work looking at the galleries which arn't in alphabetical order...hope that makes some sense Judith it took me ages to work it out...but will admit to being a bit mad about the Forum

Hi Judith, when I want to find an artist this is what I do, hope it helps (and makes sense ) At the bottom left of the gallery page click on "browse all user galleries" and at the top of the next page appears "search by user name". Type in the name of the person you are looking for and hopefully their gallery will appear. Whether or not there is an easier way of doing it I don't know but this is the one that seems to work for me. Good luck.
