I know exactly what you mean Ruthy. When we start off we improve in leaps and bounds. As we get better the improvements are less obvious. We know exactly where we want to be but it doesn't seem to get any nearer. When I am happy with a picture it'll be because I have given up trying to improve.If that ever happens I'll call it a day! Keep going - inch by painful inch...

I have had a similar "road block" myself. I seemed to lose confidence in what i could achieve and like you I think that the answer is not to try too hard. I am still feeling my way into subjects and have spent quite a bit of time doing little " nothing really" type pictures but in doing so I am enjoying myself again. Art is so difficult isn't it, and life has a way of interfering ,so its hard to generate enthusiasm for what you are doing, but just when you think its not worth it, you will just come up with something which you are chuffed with. Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and preserved piece BUT to slide across the line broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out, leaking oil, shouting GERONIMO!!!"............sort of what Phil was saying I suppose.
