My name is Tony Lees I am a product designer and self-taught artist. I have been painting in and around the Lake District for many years. Frustrated with lugging around heavy, bulky, wooden painting boxes around the Lake District I set out to design myself a replacement. The wooden box had to go. I needed something light, strong and capable. Something that could carry all my materials up hill and down dale without the need of a team of sherpas! Starting with a tough, light corrugated plastic I’d used before I came up with the first Top Box. I used the box while out painting. With it’s distinctive red colour it attracted numerous queries from passers-by. Clearly I wasn’t the only person tired of lugging heavy wooden boxes about. After a few refinements I was able to offer the 2nd generation Top Box to other artists. It’s been hugely popular and has sold in the UK and to many countries around the globe. As more artists used the box, more uses were found and more ideas for fine tuning the design came to mind. I’m now very pleased to now be able to offer the third generation of Top Box.
