New beginnings

I've recently started painting following recovery from a rather protracted and heinous illness. I've returned to work part time rather than full time, so I have more time on my hands. I started art classes a few months ago, and am finding that I have some sort of aptitude for it. I'm hoping that by joining a commnity of artists that I can pick up lots of tips, as I would love to know if I have enough talent and determination to make a go of the art thing- I know that it is early days, but I won't let being a beginner stop me! I'll be posting some pictures on the gallery, and would love any feedback to help me in my quest. I've found that I prefer painting in acrylics, and my style seems to be fairly bold and graphic, using quite bright colours generally. I'm currently trying to figure out just what I want to paint- colour seems to be more important in my art than the actual subject itself. I'd love to know how others come to decide their subject matter. Thanks for reading- any comments gratefully recieved!

Warmth? Heat? about 40 Celsius? Oh just bring it on...as long as there is a seat & table in the shade...a supply of ice, ouzo (and a little water)...feta cheese, olives & other salad bits...

Still hot here and will be all week...I hate it and my Mum-in-Law just moans and moans I don't know which is worse for goodness sake don't get up on the roof I feel dizzy just thinking about it...good old Romans sorted the world out or so they thought...now we're trying to sort it out...they say we in Oz will get more rain with global warming bring it on...thanks for your kind comments on my gallery i'm not a very quick painter so it may be a while although I must get a photo of the one that daughter snaffled

All systems are go...? Brighten up today? It is -1 Celsius, overcast, still quite dark, with rain-sleet or 5cm of snow predicted...life here came to a grinding halt with just 2cm of snow a few winters ago...a 20 minute drive home took 2hrs (that time). I'm glad we have global warming on a day like today...Where we live was, until the Romans sorted it out c.60BC, the seaside...it would be nice to have a seascape to paint from the roof of our bungalow...

Patsy, we have been waiting with bated breath.......now to the gallery!
