More on Glazing

If you've read my latest article in the Artist on glazing and been kind enough to send me a note, thank you for your encouragement; it's always satisfying to hear that something has been useful. For the few people who found it a bit confusing, I just wanted to put it on record that it was never been, and will never be, my intention to baffle anybody with science. The articles were commissioned as art theoretical and technical debates for practicing oil painters, so if you're wondering if why a glaze should be laid on a dry support but can in certain circumstances be used on a wet one then the answer lies in experimentation or tuition. All of which puts me in mind of my first glaze. Having read about it I slapped one over a portrait of my lovely wife which I'd just fished and as you might imagine my entire masterpiece was ruined!
