Man's Best Friend selected to hang at Menier Gallery in May

Suburbanartjam CP artist, Julie Maguire's work will appear in UKCPS 15th Open International Exhibition 2016

Dear Art Blog Friends I am truly blessed to find that my CP drawing, "Man's Best Friend" has made it into the Menier Gallery in May. With a growing collection of reference photos I take myself, often I find that when visiting places, whether it be London, a popular zoo or a famous landmark, I have a knack of "capturing the moment" on film. This man is homeless, living in London, a beggar in Cameron's Capital. I feel that I have captured the plight of homeless victims and raised awareness of the issue, almost on the PM's doorstep. The despair this man feels is heightened by his only one true friend, his dog....... I’m so happy as it will be my second year for an exhibit to hang in the capital! I thank the three selection judges, Astri Thomas-Saunders, Alistaire Howie and Dr Susan E Poole, for selecting my work to be included in this exciting open CP art exhibition at the Menier. As an emerging artist, it is an honour to be a part of the UKCPS as the Society brings contemporary fine art in coloured pencil media to this popular gallery located at the heart of one of London’s artistic hubs. - See more at: http://suburbanartjam.com/wp/blog/#sthash.epG75Ivz.dpuf Sponsored by Derwent, the exhibition is open between 4th – 14th May 2016 – Menier Gallery, 51 Southwark Street, London, SE1 1RU and well worth a visit. I won’t say any more than this, as there will be further judging prior to the Private View, so wish me luck, fingers crossed, who knows, I may even win a prize? Best Wishes JAM

Thanks for following my work and the encouragement, Adele

Very well done Julie - an achievement indeed. You must be really proud. You have as much chance as anyone to win a prize and if not this time, perhaps the next. The thing is to keep going.
