Festa da Iemanja

The attached is my favourite bit of playing from the week so far...its oil pastel on green handmade paper and based on a photo of women worshipping during the Festival of the Goddess of the Sea (from Brazil, I think). I don't quite know the details as I cut the photo out of a magazine many, many moons ago and only have just been inspired to do something about it. Or rather my new book has made me become inspired (left to my own devices, inspiration could take decades)....I even did a paper collage of the picture as one of the exercices and I NEVER do paper collage - I would rather paint on paper than tear it up. The sum total of my activities since the previous blog is three "activities" in my A3 'at home' sketchbook, three new ink on paper sketches (featuring a nude - one in the gallery - on two different handmade papers), a watercolour and ink sketch, and the above. Not too shabby for nearly a week but STILL no further progress on the acrylic-on-board (or AoB as it shall henceforth be known)...guessing the muse is out of town on that one.... I'm hoping the long weekend will bring some more creativity, but I'm off for a nosey around Clarence House tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great long weekend too! K
