Went over to take photos of our exhibition this morning. We have been really lucky to get the use of a shop which is empty until March ( free of charge) and it is looking really good. Now we just need lots of people to come in and have a look and hopefully buy something. There are eight of us - each with about 12 major paintings and quite a few smaller ones. It has taken a lot of organising - we begged 5 large stands from the local school- and we have had to get insurance just in case some idiot decides to fall down and break a leg ( or worse) and then sue us! It seems that, in this albeit rather unlikely event, we could be paying damages for a long, long time. Better safe than sorry. I was persuaded by my co- amateurs to raise the prices on my pictures, but I went in today and reduced them again although not quite to their original standing. We are all leisure painters and I find some of the prices they are asking ludicrous. I decided to use a formula - 3x the price of passepartout and frame plus a bit more according to the amount of time I had spent on the painting. Anybody have better ideas for pricing paintings?
