Does Anyone else Paint until 3am?

I have been soooo lapse with this blog. April and May so far have been mad. I have been frantically painting over the last three weeks like a person possessed. Early last week I had 6 paintings go in for the Otago Multiple Sclerosis Wobbly Arts Exhibition 2011. The exhibition is open to all people with multiple sclerosis or other neurological diseases. The exhibition runs from late May until early June. Today 5 paintings were taken in to The Art Station (Otago Arts Society) for an exhibition called Pocket Rockets held by the NZ Art Guild. It is specially more small works i.e. under 12 inches or 30 cm. 19 artists are displaying their work. This time I decided to paint to a theme and chose Lewis Carroll’s classic book Alice in Wonderland. There are 5 paintings in all. I posted them on here in my portfolio earlier this evening. I so enjoyed the theme and feel inspired to continue with more, maybe include his other classic Alice Through the Looking Glass. I know Alice has gained heaps of interest since the recent film by Tom Burton (which I haven’t seen). I have just reread the book to refresh my memory about the story. Here us a pic of one of my rough sketches for the Queen of Hearts. I sketch out the composition first and then transfer it onto the canvas before painting. Each canvas is given several coats of gesso before I start painting with acrylics. I’d love to hear what has inspired you recently to paint Cheers ~ Anni Morris in Dunedin, New Zealand www.annimorris.com
