A guy phoned me up and asked me to draw his wife nude. He,d seen a small exhibition of Life Drawings I,d done. So off i went to a small bungalow in Oldham and met the couple .She was very attractive,good figure and dark haired -I say this because I prefer dark haired models -suits the drawing style. I posed her by a window in the bedroom in order to create some shadows and started to draw her. Her husband was a big guy and he stood right behind me looking over my shoulder -very offputting to say the least .I just felt a little uncomfortable. So what I did was to do basically an information sketch -put everything down in a fast and fluid way -got the likeness aand the proportions paying attention to the shadows and negative spaces .30 minutes later I,d got all the information I needed so I excused myself and took the draing home to complete there. My son who was 18 at the time looked to se what I was up to . He said -"you mean to tell me that a woman who looks like that took all her clothes off and posed for you!!" I said "its dirty work son ,but someones got to do it"
