Diane Lane

Hi my name is Diane Lane I am a 39 year old Artist and I live in Oldham near Manchester.I have been painting since I was a very small child always loved Art .I have recently had a fair amount of success and sold over 500 pieces of my work via a large Manchester store named Housing Units....this has amazed me and I am now getting people collecting my works especially my dancing ladies . At the moment I produce my work at the bottom of the garden in a summer house which my husband built for me after he became sick of me using the kitchen as a studio and splashing paint everywhere !I even managed to get it on the ceiling ! My love of swarovski crysatl has led me to using these to enhance some of my works ...the little gems add gorgeous sparkles to the dresses of my dancers ...every woman loves a bit of sparkle!

Hi Patsy, I like the Lion. Not really into flowers at this time .I,m experimenting with watercolours so I,ll probably try a few set ups involving organic stuff sometime.I,m always pulled towards figurative art.I love the Charles Reid style, fast and loose -not having much success but hey its early days -only been doing watercolours for 5 years -slow learner. Sorry Patsy my name is Mike and I,m blogging at you from Manchester England -You got to be specific with geography because I was commissioned to draw a family group once from Glasgow -I quoted and when the photos arrived they were from Glasgow Kentucky -USA -didnt make much on that one -way too much lost in postage. I,m 50 ish and paint as a serious hobby ,hoping that if I ever retire I can get by on my art.that day is further away than the years I hope I have left but I continue to slog away in oils and watercolours.I love oils but am always in awe of watercolours .Hopefully I will make progress this year .I,m new to this blogging scene so cant as yet post pictures . Biggest problem seems to be getting uninterupted time in my "shed" .I,ve had it two years now .its a concrete garage really -if I ever paint a watercolour I,m satisfied with I,ll call it a studio -as yet its a shed. I enjoy Life Classes ,my wife also poses for me quite succesfully .The drawing isnt really a problem for me I can draw with confidence -its the application of colour that causes the problem.I completed an oil painting of my wifes friend recently -all told it took me 18 months to complete. This is why watercolours are definitely worth a shot .I,d love to complete a painting in one sitting -fast and loose -Egon Shielle /Charles Reid/gerald Greene . I,m on nightshift right now so its probably daytime there in Perth . isnt Geography spooky ;o)Nice talking to you Patsy -got to back to work now.

Yes Patsy , we are all having senior moments. I have just read one of your old blogs and see that you lived on the Wirral???? I have been with friends to day on the Wirral Gayton in fact. WE went to Crosby this morning to see the Antoney Gormley "Other Place" figures on the beach, they are wonderful. have you seen them ?

SYLVIA EVANS 02 Jan 2009 12:15 Hello Patsy... so lovely that someone has HOT weather.. this mad Brit got together with a dozen oldies and we had a barbie at the top of the garden and it was 7 degrees under freezing. . had a great time the non alcoholic drinks actualy froze in their bottle. The alcoholic ones where not in their bottles long enough to put to the freeze test. We then had fire works and a lot of laughter. Have a lovely New year. and hopefully you will feel mch better this year. Sylvia. P S Great way to just paint.. as it is obviously a great therapy for you. Patsy I have just realised I have also put this same "blog" onto Theas blog, so sorry. I have explained to her.... what am I |????

Hi Patsy. Happy New Year. Two of my step-daughter's friends are in Oz at the moment. You'll probably run into them (there aren't that many people over there so I'm told). They both have Yorkshire accents. One is a big bearded bloke, a cross between Shrek and Winnie the Pooh (or the biggest Ewok you've ever seen). The other is a diminutive wiry chap with a colourful mohican that doubles his height. You can't miss them. They'll be the only ones without corks on their hats. Looking forward to seeing your paintings. Off to do one of my own now. It'll be rubbish, but at least it's all recyclable.

My Dear friend Patsy...Ah what a bummer...try just one at-a-time...it is a slow process building up a gallery here...Oh and happy new year too...Image size can be a problem...and your connection speed too...I'm on the far-end of my telephone exchange...If I lived in the field over the road it would be the village exchange with 3X the speed...so the engineer took delight in imparting this gem...
