Life after School !!

As a school student I failed art and had no ability at all??? However, all my life I have loved art and longed to be able to produce artworks. At the ripe age of 45 I started to learn a few folk art techniques and found some success. I started to paint canvasses using acrylics, attended classes in drawing and was amazed at what I could produce. Since then I have branched into watercolour and even had a dabble with oils. I have been teaching primary school aged children for 30 years. I am now a class free Deputy Principal and at the moment relieving Principal in a large Prmary school. Art is my sanity. When I get into some art the whole world disappears and I become absorbed. I have found it is the best form of relaxation for me. I now carry an A5 sketch book with me and when I have time I sketch things around me. My sketches are still very naive but are improving as I continue. My husband and I are planning a holiday in London and Europe in October 2008 and I am looking forward to building up a diary of sketches to record our travels. Learning is my passion. I love to learn new things and have shown myself many times that even if I have no natural ability or skill I can learn and be taught. I have even started running art classes at our school for students who are keen. I am amazed at the natural ability that some children have. At the same time my own experience tells me that even those who think they can't, can learn as long as they have an interest and enjoy what they are doing.
