About Mark Dack

.

I am based in Nottinghamshire and have been going to art classes concentrating on watercolours and drawing for three years. I started out sketching with a variety of pencil types before moving into watercolours, ink and wash and then moving on to black and coloured ink work. I get my inspiration from the environment around me whether its a natural landscape or a beautiful building. I always carry a camera just in case I see something that would make an interesting drawing or painting. I also get inspiration from other artists such as JMW Turner, Geoff Kersey, Charles Evans and Joe Francis Dowden. I am a member of Kimberley Association of Artists, where I am an active committee member. In 2008 I exhibited for the first time and won Best First Time Exhibitor at the Kimberley Open Art Competition and Exhibition, I also won first prize in the Miscellaneous category at the Art of the Midlands Exhibition at Long Eaton Town Hall both with the same piece "Nottingham Victoria" which is in the galley on this site. I also exhibited at Upper Broughton Art Exhibition. This year I have set myself the targets of entering as many competitions and exhibitions as time will allow (as I work full time) and having either my own website or showing my work on other sites in order to get feedback from other artists and members of the public and hopefully even sell some of my work. So far I have had lots of positive comments on my work through my gallery on this site, which is greatly appreciated.
