A week later.....as the Work in Progress starts to emerge.....

Julie Ann Maguire displays her latest update in Suburban art jam as the Derwent Skintone coloured pencils begin to appear on pastel paper

These weeks just seem to fly by and I'm fortunate that I'm kept busy and can rely upon the tranquillity of "art therapy" to keep me on track as a hardworking mum and housewife. Here is my latest Work in Progress - this pair are already starting to "pop". Daler-Rowney pastel paper certainly makes all the difference. There's a possibility we may take a break this weekend and head over to Open Studios 2015 in Cawthorne Lane, Barnsley to see fellow Yorkshire lass, artist and Fine Art tutor, Janey Lazenby at her converted stable block which she has transformed into a studio gallery. The studio is part of Open Up Sheffield, the leading free art event in the South Yorkshire region where Pennine Artists members Caroline Bell, Jackie Prachek, Alison Carthy, Catherine Higham, Yvonne North Moorhouse and Simon Brock join Jane Lazenby to showcase their work as part of Open Up Sheffield 2015. Worth a visit if you live nearby or will be visiting the area between 2-4 May 2015. Opening hours: 11.00-17.00 with free admission, good company and great exhibits by real life Yorkshire folk!
