A spring abstract

A spring abstract

To create an abstract painting, I find it helpful to have two things in mind: a color scheme that I want the finished item to look like and an idea of the shapes I will use or in other words the tools or brushes I will use. This time I wanted to create a painting that used some spring acrylic colours, yellows and bright greens.

This time I wanted to create a painting that used some spring acrylic colours, yellows and bright greens. As for the shapes, I did the following: I painted the canvas with a ground of violet at the bottom graduating to lemon yellow at the top. I then used cerulean blue in random fingers spreading out from the bottom to the top, like a hand shape, mixing it about with a small sponge at the edges, which creates the bright spring green colours and adding some white accents for cream highlights. The mixture results in some of the colours found in bluebells and primroses. Finally, I like to use an orange accent colour to liven it up.
