A Paintings Journey

I recently received a call from a lady in Cardigan who by chance had come into the possesion of a painting which I had sold several years ago at the British Watercolour Society Exhibition in Ilkley, Yorkshire. The painting was framed and appeared to be in its original frame and mount, however no signature was visible (maybe it had been remounted). I had however put a sticker on the rear of the frame with my name and address. The picture was described to me over the phone and was titled "Evening Light -Derwent Water". I could not recall the picture so the lady agreed to send me a photograph of it and I offered to look through my sketch books to find the original sketch. I would take a copy of the sketch and sign it for attaching with the picture. A tew days later the photo arrived with an accompanying letter and sure enough it was unmistakeably one of my creations. I am still looking for the sketch. It starting me thinking of where and how paintings change owners or maybe end up in some distant recycle bin. I was very pleased that this particular picture was enjoyed by its new owners and was indeed accompanying them in the future move to Germany. It really brightened my day and it has inspired me to shake of the Mothballs (see previous blog same title) which have for too long been surrounding my watercolour paints and brushes. Watch for additions to my gallery space "Artofrob". May all my paintings be as curished in the future. The picture attached is not the one in question but it's another one of Derwent Water which I have never framed or exhibited.
