Karting Nation on Diamond hill overlooking Buxton, oil on 60x46cm canvas

Another nice one Justin, love the sky in this one

An interesting composition. I like the emptiness of the roads and I like the contrast of the roadworks area against the huge sky.

Super, more best of lucks - this is my favourite

These paintings are excellent. I can't remember whether you have mentioned which oils, but regardless, the quality of it makes a difference.

Thanks for the comments and stuff. Diane this is an old Go Kart track it’s now used for motorcycles training courses so at least it is no longer derelict. I loved the visual barriers that were there, things you shouldn’t put in the front of a picture, but it kind of works for me anyway. Gudrun I mostly use student grade paints, and really old paints as they can have good pigment. I do have a selection of ‘artist’ quality paints and I recently bought a load of Michael Harding paints which are much higher in pigmentation and I am very impressed with. The blue is a mix of cobalt blue and lead or flake white and red is a mix of Napthol Red and Cadmium orange which are are some of the artist quality. The trees use a lovely colour called ‘green gold’ which you can mix but there are tubes out there. The sky is a mixture of indigo and cobalt turquoise

Love the contrast of the stormy sky with the stilness of the scene below.

First entry for the Buxton Spa competition this year. Karting nation is now closed sadly due to the virus and the impossibility to run it under the social distancing rules we have had. I saw the scene after dropping my wife off at the university site near there. I was really taken by the fluorescent orange. I had to wait until I had a good enough paint to do it justice
