I am doing a sketch book challenge at the moment Lee and the theme of one of them is Something old Something new. So also am in the process of painting Ammonites. This is lovely, I ,too have discovered those lovely pinks and browns.

oil on canvas, 10 x 10cm. This painting kicks off my series of ‘Alphabet Paintings’, one painting for each letter of the alphabet. There are some fantastic examples of polished ammonites in the brilliant natural history museum in Oxford, that was the inspiration for this little abstract-ish painting.

I set myself a challenge to paint a small picture for each letter of the alphabet. Not every painting I've done since then has been part of this 'alphabet' but I enjoy coming back to this series in between other projects. I'd love to know what you think of my work or if you have a favourite.
