Thanks for your comments. Glad I achieved the effect of distance you picked up on Stephen. Sometimes painting from a photograph it's all too easy to add detail to all parts of the scene. I often paint en plein air where it's easier to control that.

Hang on Studio Wall

Working from one of my photographs taken on a short break in London (I live in Scotland) I particularly liked the setting sun in the far distance and wanted to capture that spot of yellow in my painting. Painted in the studio on Saunders Waterford 300gsm quarter sheet. I always work from my own photos because I can remember the atmosphere, the sounds and the life of the place.
