Unusual rock formations seen in the Northern Territory of Australia. These huge boulders lie at varying angles, some balancing precariously on the top of others. The aborigines have a "Dreamtime" story connected with this phenomenon. In this painting I rhythmically drew with the brush, in two or three tonal values, the varying shapes, trying to get a balance and an integration of the elements. I then flowed colours freely over the boulders, once again to integrate the shapes, rather than indicate individual boulders. I added salt to the pigment for texture.
