The Quantocks and other subjects.... including a retrospective exhibition by Perilla Hall

Annual Art Exhibition of local artists includes a Retrospective exhibition of paintings by Perilla Hall for charity on 4th May at Nether Stowey, Somerset.

Art Exhibition of 20 local artists includes a Retrospective exhibition of paintings by Perilla Hall for charity on May Bank Holiday weekend.

Opening at St Mary's Church Centre in Nether Stowey, nestled on the Quantock Hills, on 4th May until 6th May only. Entrance Free. 10.30-4.30 (morning only on Monday).

Mother of four, Perilla would set her easel up in the playpen while the children roamed outside it. She became a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters but, after moving to a cliffside cottage in Cornwall, painted a wide range of subjects. Perilla also created hangings from materials inherited from her mother based on popular nursery rhymes. She made stage sets for the local pantomime, a hanging for her local church and designed her own linocut Christmas cards. In her later years Perilla turned to writing fiction, and her novel “Tabitha’s House” can be found online.
