Shropshire artist will live like a gypsy this summer ...

A Shropshire artist will be living like a gypsy this summer. It’s all in the name of art for Penny Timmis from Leigh Hall, near Minsterley because as she treks from exhibition to exhibition she will, for the most part, be driving and living in an old horse lorry.

A Shropshire artist will be living like a gypsy this summer. It’s all in the name of art for Penny Timmis from Leigh Hall, near Minsterley because as she treks from exhibition to exhibition she will, for the most part, be driving and living in an old horse lorry. “I even did this for the Hampton Court Flower Show last year,” she says. “But then I got hammered with a £200 congestion charge so I won’t be doing that this year. Instead I shall be staying with my daughter in London. Aside from that though, I will be living the life of a gypsy when I drive to Blooming Marvellous in Stratford from July 17 to July 19 and the Game fair in Yorkshire from July 31 to August 2.” When she is not driving her lorry stacked to the roof with her large paintings Penny drives her 16 year old P-registered Volvo V80. “It’s a large estate car, bigger than the current V70 and I have had it converted to gas and the tank sits in the well for the spare tyre in the boot, which means that the spare tyre has to sit on the roof, making it look like an African taxi!” You can see Penny’s work at: The Hampton Court Flower Show from June 29 to July 5 Blooming Marvellous, Stratford, July 17 to July 19 The Game Fair, Yorkshire, July 31 to August 2 For more information contact Penelope: Tel: 07709 342351; 01743 891240 Email: [email protected] Web: www.penelopetimmis.co.uk
