Prominent Birmingham artist to exhibit in Worcester

A Birmingham artist will be showing her work at Hanbury Hall in Worcester twice this year.

Jan Gay, an elected member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, has never shown at this attraction before. “It's a National Trust property and I have been told it attracts lots of visitors with work selling well,” says Jan whose work will be hung in the Long Gallery from June 27 to July 12, covering the weekend of the Hanbury Hall Flower Feast. “The theme will be related to flowers and I will be submitting five pictures.” Jan graduated with a degree at Bournville College of Art and has also studied Fine Art and Ceramics at Eastbourne Teacher Training College. “Throughout my career as an artist I have enjoyed the powerful use of colour and immediacy of mark making,” says Jan. “My richness of media reflects a fascination for abstract elements and characterises my compositions. The subjects that I paint are undoubtedly my drive... inspiration is everywhere. However, my real passion is for the creative journey and my desire to produce visually stimulating art, expressing the way I view the world.” Jan has a studio in Solihull and exhibits as a member at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists as well as at other galleries such as the Art Barn (Preston Bagot), Artifex Gallery and Hanbury Hall, Worcestershire. Jan holds art classes and workshops in the community including sessions with the elderly in a local residential home.
