Pintar Rapido is the UK’s biggest outdoor painting festival, competition and exhibition and is open to professional and amateur artists from all over the UK.

This year, the events takes place in London on Saturday 11 July and Sunday 12 July and in Glasgow for the first time on Saturday 15 August and Sunday 16 August. The festival celebrates art and the cityscape by challenging artists of all levels to create a picture from start to finish in a day. The following day the public can view and buy these unique visions of London and Glasgow at the Pintar Rapido exhibition, with 10% of the profit going to charity.

Pintar Rapido (translation - painting quickly in Spanish) is a weekend celebration of creativity and urban landscapes. Now in its third year in London, the event attracts hundreds of artists competing for the £3,000 worth of prizes including the top award of £1,000 sponsored by sofa.com, and the opportunity for artists to sell their paintings.

Pintar Rapido was founded by Roger Beckett. He was inspired by a similar event whilst visiting a small village in Catalonia called Horta De Sant Juan where Picasso painted several early Cubist paintings.

Roger Beckett said: “Last year we had more than 500 artists taking part making Pintar Rapido the biggest outdoor painting festival and exhibition in the UK. It was inspiring to see so many artists of all abilities, backgrounds and mediums creating a picture, live, out on the streets. I want to encourage people to take part - to paint, draw, sketch and be more creative whilst celebrating the city landscape.”

Saturday: Painting Day. After choosing a location across the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London and Glasgow to paint, each artist has a day to create their artwork. They use their own materials and work in any style, medium or size they wish.

Sunday: Public exhibition and sale at Chelsea Old Town Hall on the King's Road, London and Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow where visitors can view more than 400 paintings and meet the artists, including the winner of the £1,000 Pintar Prize.

Last year’s first prize in London was awarded to Ben Hope, who painted Looking West Along Queen’s Gate Terrace, 25x30cm, oil on canvas. The Pintar Prize in London is being judged by award-winning artist Richard Pikesley, gallery owners Charles and Sarah Russell-Walling and Steve Pill, Editor of Artists and Illustrators Magazine. The judges in Glasgow are artist Robert Kelsey andGallery Director of ScotlandArt, Sarah Cox and Pintar Rapido founder, Roger Beckett.
