En Plein Air Oil Painting for Beginners & Improvers Workshop with Fran Russell

Fran's workshops are suited to those with some painting experience but may be starting out with oils & those who would like to improve on existing skills while getting to grips with the challenges of working en plein air. Oil paints can be supplied for a small additional fee. Fran has a few easels and other equipment which can be loaned (first come/first reserved).

This workshop will be held at Bodiam, East Sussex where you will set up to paint beside the beautiful River Rother. With many trees just beginning to show fresh new leaves and the riverside vegetation not fully re-grown, the time of year will offer more light and better visibility of the river with lovely reflections.

Workshop time: 9.30am -to- 5.00pm.

At the workshop you will learn how to find your subject; set up your easel to avoid annoyances and problems later on in the day; plan your composition; create atmospheric perspective; colour mixing; application of oil paints; how to avoid “muddy” colours and various useful tips to assist you with the demands of outdoor landscape painting.

Small groups of 8 maximum will ensure plenty of one-to-one tuition.
