Before Lynda Kettle relocated to Devon a few months ago she was the Vice President of one of the oldest art societies in Great Britain, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, founded in 1821. Lynda, who has lived in the Midlands for many years, was drawn to the coastal town of Sidmouth where she has quickly established herself in the local community. “I have joined the Sidmouth Art Society and the Topsham Art Society,” says Lynda. “When I moved to Devon I left The Canalside studio in Stoke Prior and I now have a new art studio at EVA (Exeter Visual Art) Studios in Marsh Barton, Exeter. “I am doing art demonstrations arranged around Devon for quite a few societies; it’s good fun changing areas after being in the Midlands for all those years.” Lynda will be exhibiting her work in the Creative Coverage Open Exhibition at Kennaway House in Sidmouth from April 29 to May 6, 2016. Former Vice President of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) Lynda was also Membership Secretary for the Birmingham Watercolour Society (BWS) before she relocated to Devon. She is still a member of the Birmingham and Midland Pastel Society and the RBSA. A landscape artist, Lynda is a graduate of Birmingham College of Art. Following a successful artistic career in theatre and BBC Television she now paints in her own studio at the Canalside Craft Centre, Stoke Prior. Lynda exhibits her paintings, runs art courses and gives demonstrations to art societies. "My life in TV has influenced my painting style," says Lynda. "I aim to show the effect of light with elements of drama using bold colour."
