Jackson’s Open Painting Prize 2017

The Jackson’s Open Painting Prize is accepting submissions from 4th January 2017 until 2nd April 2017.

The Jackson’s Open Painting Prize exists to recognise and appreciate original, 2-dimensional fine art works in any painting or drawing media. Photographs, computer generated or manipulated artwork and 3D sculptural works are not eligible for selection. The annual competition offers an on-line showcase and impressive prizes for contemporary and traditional visual artists, both emerging and established. Because the finalists will be shown in an online exhibition there are no barriers to international submissions. We welcome entries from artists in any country and of any age.

In 2016, Jackson’s ran it’s inaugural major art prize. The Jackson’s Open Art Prize (JOAP 2016) received 3000 entries from all over the world, with many exceptional submissions that excelled in originality and craftsmanship. The 2016 final prize winners can be viewed here. The prize has been renamed to further distinguish our selection criteria from 3D sculptural works.

There is a two-tier selection and judging process: first the Jackson’s selection panel will select a longlist and then the panel of expert judges (curators, gallerists and artists) will select first a short-list and then the winners.

The Jackson’s Open Painting Prize is accepting submissions from 4th January 2017 until 2nd April 2017. The price for entry is £5 per artwork and you can submit up to a maximum of 5 artworks per artist. With £11,000 worth of prizes, the prize fund has increased significantly since last year and the changes to the cost of submission reflects this. We have also invested in state-of-the art competition software which will be able to display online galleries of longlisted/shortlisted works. They also have additional Category Prizes each with a prize of £1000.
