Excellent work with a great narrative. The expression says it all. Lovely tones as well.

A fine drawing, and fun too. It’s a small blast from the past for me. My brother had a pet budgie, it’s cage door as always open so the bird had a free run in the house and would perch anywhere. Including the dog’s head. The dog’s resigned acceptance of this was exactly as you’ve depicted in your drawing.

Dogs CAN be very patient: until suddenly, they're not - I could tell you a tale of a dove and a lurcher, which eventually lost patience with the pecking and administered terminal justice to his tormenter. On the other hand, I could advance the example of my very old dog, who slept in the garden while a blackbird perched on her shoulder: they became quite close... Either way - this is a very fine drawing.

Thanks for all your interesting comments. I have had many dogs over the years but only one budgie. This drawing is using a reference photo supplied for our sketching group so I do not know the back story.

I love the way youve drawn this. The dogs face is very slightly skewed which gives a sense of movement and animation.

The dogs expression says it all.
