No, not two lighthouses but towers. They were erected on the Head following the worst peacetime maritime disaster in Irish waters ever. In 1816 the ship The Seahorse foundered there. It was carrying 390 soldiers and some families from Ramsgate to Cork. The soldiers were being redeployed from the Waterloo and the peninsular wars. Only 30 survived. The towers were part of a sort of visible motorway countdown to the safety of Waterford Harbour. 3,2 and 1 tower to each approaching headland. –oil 12”x10
