Thanks Guy, Stephen and Linda for the nice comments. Although from medieval times, The Lovers of Teruel story is legendary and still a feature in Teruel in north eastern Spain where the couple are supposedly buried. Yes, I'm an old romantic..(-:

Diego and Isobel are madly in love but he is poor. Her father gives him five years to make his fortune which he does but returns a day late. Her father insists she marries another. Diego begs her for a kiss but she refuses as she is now married and God would not be pleased. Diego drops dead at her feet.
