I love your portraits. This one is particularly good: colours and use of pen, just right. I saw a quote by Oscar Wilde yesterday about you don't necessarily become wiser the older you get. I can't remember it exactly.

Thanks Gudrun, Seth, Ibolya and Lewis. My view on portraits is simple, the more like the reference sources they end up, the least interesting. Why bother painting a perfect copy, just take a photograph instead? Art is about the artist and their interpretation or personal view, not reproducing a perfect copy of the subject. This is where technology is taking us. Long live the simple paintbrush....Amen..(-:

..but its author, Oscar Wilde. Not a portrait, but a pen and wash sketch version from a black and white photograph. I've vaguely indicated light and dark (grey?) sides to a complicated but brilliant man.
