Paul (Dixie) will know this well, but the Moors of North Africa conquered the vast majority of Spain for almost eight hundred years (711-1492). Gibraltar (Quibralfara) and Tarifa where their main inital landings points (And all because the then King, Roderigo, thought he could have his way with the visiting Sultan's daughter without reprisal.
