Pure nostalgia

five again

Blimey, Heather, that was quick, but thanks for the comment. (-:

Where would we be without nostalgia? Poorer, for sure. I didn't follow the famous five, but there are plenty of books that recall younger days. I like your drawing, a loose but accurate style. The dog is great, too.

This is such a great drawing/ painting. I really enjoyed looking at it for a few minutes

Thanks Lew and Diana. I look at things with new eyes as I get older and think, why can't I enjoy Famous Five and co now as much as when I was ten? No reason at all (-:

Pure nostalgia. I read every Famous Five book in our library and then found Bulldog Drummond!

Wow - brought a memory back with a bang, there! I read all the FF books at the time: it's only later that you realize some of them were a bit Edwardian in their attitudes - but then, Enid Blyton was Edwardian - I'm sure she helped an awful lot of children to read, even though the school librarians hated her.... a very evocative painting, anyway.

Thanks all for the great comments, my three favourite books in later life are The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, The Jane Austen Omnibus edition and The Bible (although I don't read this as often as I should maybe), but I never forget the rest, love the classics and still get pleasure from so many more..

How I loved these adventures, you did a great job with Jim.

Lovely painting full of energy and character.

Loved them and this, Jim
