Very nostalgic painting Jim and great title.

Interesting subject Jim with history to boot. There still seem to be a few of these around. I’m not sure why as they’ve been unused for decades. Would the ground be contaminated perhaps or are they just retaining them historical interest?

Thanks Carole and Tessa for the comments. We had three "gasometers" in Bolton till a few years ago, but, like our magnificent Odeon art nouveau cinema and our local Palais, they were torn down as part of council "planning" ( you can spell that "demolition") . Shame.

It’s such a shame to see these landmarks lost Jim and I see that nature is moving in also with the nearby trees.

Only you would think of painting gasworks Jim and it has turned out really well too.

Great capture Jim. Great symmetry.

Until I saw this Jim I hadn’t realised how much I missed them. They were just part of the scenery . Interesting excersise and nicely painted.

Thanks all. Good to see many remember the old gas works fondly.
