Mermaid

I love this. Just my sort of painting! I think it is nice as it is but perhaps more of a background would add to it.

Thanks for the nice comments Margaret. I wanted to get a real sense of fluidity to her. All too often people draw mermaids as though they have legs with a fish suit pulled over them. I do intend to work on a background for her. Probably do it and then scan it into the computer and layer her onto it rather than try to work around her now.

Thanks Ruthy. I wanted her to look as though she belonged in the water and not just a normal person with a tail stuck on. That's why I went for a brighter colour and added fins to her arms, webbed fingers and a tail so sinuous there couldn't possibly be legs in there.
