This is rather delightful - I am particularly struck by the shapes portrayed in the land and sea. Sorry, I am not experienced enough to give constructive critism and have never tried oils but I agree with you that it is so helpful to get advice here.

Lovely textures give such interest to this simple scene. Great colours and lovely greens. The little cottage sits well in the landscape. I know nothing about oil painting so cannot advise - leave that to others. The only thing that strikes me is a compositional issue. You have a strong image of the headland on the right dipping down to the sea and because of this strong angle I think I might have considered changing the cloud formations to mirror that angle by coming in from the left hand corner of the paper and dipping down towards where the headland meets the sea (if you see what I mean) sort of like a streaky sky. It would then make the 'effect' of the painting the small area of sea between the headland and the grass to it's left. It is just that the headland makes such a strong angle which is not repeated anywhere else in the painting as all other strong lines are horizontal. Just a thought and a very personal view.

I think the sky and clouds are very good. Like the 1st comment - not experienced enough either for further comment. I like the textures achieved.

Thank you all for your comments, we are all at different levels and experiences, I myself have only been painting for about a year and I have very limited skills and I believe that I will improve from any comments and suggestions, so thank you..

Oil on canvass I welcome any comments good or bad,esp bad if its constructive criticism as that will only improve my paintings.
