Cotwold Cottage by Thomas Birch

Fabulous painting. How did you create this please- materials, size - thanks?

Lovely.

It's great - let us know the details

Really good, certainly like to know the details of how it was achieved.

Thank you to everyone who has commented on this. The piece originally started as a sketch of a cottage on a steep woody lane inspired by many visited to the cotswolds. Eventually it developed into a composition set on a gradual slope with an open landscape in the distance. May is my favourite time of year with its blossoms and lush greens so I thought the the month and the setting would go well together. Living in the countryside has also been handy for collecting sources of reference. The piece took me eight years to complete (on and off) and I have been using Artrage on my imac for the final rendition. A combination of watercolour and spray-paint effects were used to create a smooth finish with gently contrasting lighting.

Cool Painting..

My own interpretation of an idyllic cotswold cottage set on a quiet country lane in late spring
