These three quick charcoal studies are from our life drawing session last evening. I use a subtractive technique, covering the very cheap paper with a fine layer of charcoal, then find my lightest areas, and then the darks are punched in, using mainly the spaces between the model, Jane, and the background velvet backdrop.
