Field of Gold by Tessa Gwynne

Love the painting , the texture is really good. It seems that the rapeseed has suddenly overtaken the countryside, I was out to day and there are yellow fields as far as you can see. I does look unreal as if someone has gone mad with a spray gun.

Great vigorous texture there Tessa.

Firstly I love the palette Tessa…..then there’s the gorgeous thick paint and that slice of brightness in the distance. Really like it.

I really like the thick application of paint. It's very effective.

Thank you Peter-quite fun to do, using palette knife which makes it easier to paint over wet oil paint.

And - lovely thick paint. It's a plein air, so you could work it up in the studio, paint a bigger version: I wouldn't personally want to change this one, but it'd make an excellent study for a bigger piece.

Ah thank you Robert, much appreciated. I’m thinking of doing a few of these small sketches and then work up as you say into a bigger version.
