Tessa...me and my daffy eyes thought it was a blue face....hangs head in shame. But now I see it's a beautiful rucksack.

Great idea Tessa.

Sylvia, diolch! I did think myself it looked like a grumpy face. Actually it’s quite a happy rucksack. 🤣

Thanks Carole.x

Such an interesting idea and I like how you’ve applied the paint which does give the impression of a grumpy face.

Excellent painting Tessa and I join the grumpy face team .

Works very well Tessa.

Thank so much Spencer, Dixie and Chris. I feel I may have to do another version…..😉

Very good Tessa.

Oh terrific Tessa, such a nice rucksack and one can feel the gabardine too,, lovely! I did notice the Abstract expression of a face too,! An amazing two way optical illusion!

Thank you Denise.

Angela, thank you very much! Glad you liked the ‘face’ which wasn’t intentional but has caused much amusement all round, and has given my more ideas!

Simplicity is good!

Thanks Heather!

Great study Tessa! Have you found a growing confidence in mixing, applying and knowing when to stop through your journey Tessa?

Fiona, hi and thank you. I think I have, though part of me is itching to get back to oils! I’ve been reading TA articles where Matt medium is recommended but I bought some gloss medium which I’ve only used once in this painting, and found it quite pleasing to use. At the beginning of the month my plan was ‘just’ to paint daily in various mediums but I seem to be stuck in acrylic for the moment, which obviously helps rather than dipping in just occasionally. I also bought a stay wet palette which makes me feel I have to continue ad infinitum! Thank you for your comments as always. x

Thanks very much for your reply Tessa. Your work looks very confidently executed and great colour balances too. Keep up the good work…..can’t wait to see your first oil after this exercise ends, if it ever does!

😉👏🏼

Good one Tessa! I can't keep up with you!

Cheers Diane, I think it’s usually the their way round!

The other way round! Blooming predictive text. 🤭

A4 acrylic on watercolour paper. I chose a simple familiar subject which I use regularly. Trying to keep a graphic style.

About the Artist

I have returned to painting over the last few years having relocated from Cardiff to the Cotswolds in 2009 and joined the Guiting Power Art Group. Although I did a year's Foundation Course at art college after leaving school, I hadn’t painted much in the interim, except for a few attempts here and…
