I love the slightly abstract feel of this Sylvia. I painted something similar in oils with a gold background several years ago and sold it. I like how you've made one tree stand out as a point of interest. Your personal background sounds so similar to mine - my dad said I had to get a "proper job" but I liked the job anyway so it was OK. However, like you, I found a way back into art when I was much older - no pressure now so I do what I like doing most of all - painting!

The scketchbook idea is fantastic and I'm sure you all love taking part! The idea of patterns is a great one too and your birches is a lovely sample, Sylvia. Yes, I'll be watching this space!

I really like this Sylvia! As you have said this type of project does make you think outside the box, each subject has so many different interpretations. You are obviously thoroughly enjoying the challenge!

Thanks for looking and commenting Pat , Satu and Christine. It is great fun and all eight of us are enjoying it. I found the idea via Amanda Bates who also posts on here.

It's a great image Sylvia with lots of interpretations, I love your palette too, very striking.

Great format creates a lovely pattern Sylvia.

These look like silver birches - are they? A great idea and the collaboration is obviously producing some stunning work.

Just spent a happy half an hour adding this to one of the sketchbook collaboration books I am involved with. Eight of us have identical sketch books and a personal theme . We work on a book then pass it on and work on another one . Eventually we will make a printed book from our efforts . This theme is " Patterns". What I am enjoying about it is the having to think outside of the box, and attempting stuff that you possibly would not have done. We are about half way through. Watch this space. Oh this is acrylic , crayon and pen.
