There's a beautiful rythm to this painting with all their limbs stretched, reaching for spring.

This is beautiful. I love the format - you can feel the freezing air and hear the silence.

Thankyou for lovely comments. The trees in my garden were covered like this.

Beautiful pared down image. Lovely

It is very cold Sylvia............ But truly lovely effect !

Very effective design, will make beautiful cards.

How did I miss this...... it's a wonderful painting, and will make a superb card; did you use texture paste, I wonder? If I were the unscrupulous sort, I'd pinch this rather than do my own Christmas card; but I'm not, so I won't.

This is beautiful and unusual. Where have your bright colours gone? Love the way you've used texture, definitely suggests heavish snowfall to me, blizzard on the way!

Wonderful painting, Sylvia, just perfect for a Christmas card. I think the texture you have achieved is great. Well done.

Nice one Sylvia, I can feel the cold, will make a good Xmas Card.

Many thanks for your congratulations on the Sue Ryder exhibition. I missed you posting this; there's been so much recently. Smashing painting but touching a raw nerve today as we are snowed in and I can't get out to collect my new computer!

Thanks for your kind comments Sylvia. This is a very evocative work .It has a very Caspar Freidrich feel to it. Very atmospheric and a brave use of texture. Your palm tree paintig is also beautiful in a painterly way. I find it difficult to free myself from slavish photographic interpretation...you,ve managed to escape the trap. K.O.P.

Absolutely lovely texture in this painting! It looks exactly like our forests in winter back home in Finland... Thank you for your lovely comment on my bird-painting "Far away in the dark forest". It is an Azure-winged Magpie that I see quite often here on the east coast of China. And the blue on the tail and wings is cerulean blue (oil), mixed with white for the lighter, and with paynes grey for the darker parts. Normally I don't use it much as it is very strong in color/hue, but for this bird it seemed fitting ;-)

I have a feeling I might have posted this before. I did this early this year when we had a heavy snowfall. I am using it for my Christmas card this year.
