Poppy Fields by suzanne Mortimer

This is a very lively, vivid landscape. I like the depth of the foreground...perhaps the far trees could be a tad paler for recession? Strong brush strokes in this.

I like the soft effect you have achieved for the fields. To me, the colours are subtle and understated. Very gentle and harmonious image. Ruth sees it as lively and vivid. Luckily, It just goes to show how we all see things differently. Wouldnt normally comment but you did ask for comments. I like the atmosphere you have created here.

Hello Suzanne, Thank you for your comments on my work, I do appreciate it. One day I might get around to painting some poppies because they really can be eyecatching. I think you have done well setting them off against the field and well painted too. I agree with Ruth about the background, I think you should consider Greeny/greys or Bluey/greys to give added depth to the scene. Kind regards, Joe

Hi I am not surprised you have sold the painting - it has a lovely summery feeling. I like the fields and background - not sure i would change them at all - but perhaps the lovely poppies could be less evenly distributed. Only a thought.
