For once NOT a miniature! Australia has many iconic sights and the colours here are always very bright and intense compared to those of Dartmoor where I grew up. Having now lived in Australia for the greater part of my life I have now grown to love the strong colours and find that I frequently exaggerate them and it seems to be inherent quality with my work that has developed over the years. With this painting I wanted to achieve the abstracted feeling that nature produces in the bush growth contrasting with the harsh sunlit cliffs of the Grose Valley in the Blue Mountains.
