Beautiful painting Sue. I am particularly attracted by the combination of realism and fantasy. Your composition is exquisite, as is the execution.

I really like ths unusual painting Sue, lots of detail must have taken ages. As Sharon says great composition.

Thank you for your nice comments, I enjoy detail work but using the watercolour pencils with a small amount of water and working into the negative didn't take as long as I thought it might.

An absolutely delightful piece, Sue - love the composition and the superb rendering of detail.

I love this; the simple understated colour scheme, the change from sepia to colour and the line work all work so well. It would make a beautiful illustration for a book. Why don't you send a copy to the Beatrix POtter Museum and see if they are interested?

They could sell prints or it would make smashing note cards

What a beautiful painting. I love the colours and the detail of the foxgloves.

The water colour pencil colours haven't photocopied that well, but the idea for this picture came after I visited Chelsea flower show and saw the Peter Rabbit herb garden stand. (Peter Rabbit is hiding in the watering can.) The right hand side of the picture is sepia coloured to represent my yesteryear childhood memories of the Peter Rabbit books, while the left hand foxgloves add a bit of colour. They started off a pale peach colour to tone with the sepia, but my husband felt it needed a more vibrant frontage. The gate is the design of the garden gate at Beatrix Potters cottage.
