It is a very atmospheric rendering - like it.

You're not far away Peter, the sky and distant rock is superb. A dry brush with white gouache dragged across the far strip of water would add that sparkle you are after.

Thanks guys, your comments are appreciated. I intend to try and add some 'sparkle' when the painting is dry Alan. Here's hoping.

Sorry Peter, I think I may have the medium wrong, I thought it was watercolour with my bad eyes...

Thanks Holger and Sandra, getting the light effect is a goal not often achieved by me!

I'm on a bigger screen now, so am assuming it is oil Peter! I just tend to plaster the white sparkle on when wet, I'm too impatient to wait... A nice piece anyway.

Thanks Ruth, that's very kind. It is a bit of a clichéd view of Staithes but I like it and I'll probably paint it again on my next visit.
